The ConstructionSkills
Health & Safety Test is the industry standard, taken by over 500,000
people every year. It has been designed to ensure
everybody working in construction has a minimum level of Health
and Safety awareness, to help
prevent site accidents.
Passing the test is an essential
part of qualifying for the major card schemes, Without
the right card, it's increasingly difficult to get on site.
The test is multiple choice and
is conducted via computer – you select the correct answer by either using a
mouse or using a touch sensitive computer screen,
special computer skills are not needed as
you can have a tutorial practice session before sitting your test if you wish,
Sessions are monitored, so assistance is always on hand.
Questions are taken from an
approved selection covering topics such as site hazards, working at heights,
using dangerous substances and understanding warning signs,
CCM conduct training
sessions to help in understanding what Health and Safety is all about prior to
the test, to help everyone in passing the test.
There are different categories of
test, depending on which CSCS or CPCS card scheme you
will be applying for – we can help advise you when you book. The category of
test you sit will also influence the selection of questions in your test and how
many you will be asked.
Usually, you will be asked 40
questions, to be answered in 45 minutes, although some specialist tests have 50
questions and last 60 minutes. Most candidates finish well before time.
