 National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs)

National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) are work-related, competence-based qualifications. They reflect the skills and knowledge needed to do a job effectively, and show that a candidate is competent in the area of work the NVQ represents, assessments are carried out in the workplace and the work evidence in collated and entered into the candidates portfolio which we supply.

The Assessment Process
CCM will conduct a free initial interview with a prospective candidate, this is carried out prior to any assessment activity, to ensure that the assessment process can be completed without any further training requirements, and within the prescribed period as outlined within the assessment planning.

Candidates that require extra training will be entered into a different programme with the time scale being greater, to allow for the training element to be undertaken, and to work alongside the assessment process collecting work evidence and experience which will be over a much longer period of time.

Candidates with prior experience, or CPCS Trained operator card holders are usually completed after 10 weeks from the registration date, application for CPCS competence cards are also included in this package providing the correct number of operating hours have been recorded and validated in the candidates log book record, Companies within scope of the CITB and who pay a levy can also claim a grant for this qualification in accordance to the scheme rules.

The Outcome

Following a successful assessment process where all the required workplace evidence has been collected, the candidate will be awarded a certificate of unit credit for awarded units applicable to their trade or profession, a full NVQ certificate for the completed assessment activity will also be awarded providing that ten weeks has passed since the candidates registration date, this is a City & Guilds CITB Qualification recognised in all industry areas.
