Method
Statements give details how to undertake a particular task or activity. Method
Statements must detail the possible dangers, risks and hazards associated with
the project, the control methods which must be used are to show how the
work will be managed and monitored safely. A method statement is used to
specify the resources that will be required with and
safety control measures needed to control the hazards identified in
the risk assessment associated with the activity, and
that has been carried out for the specific task
or operation. Method statements are for the specific
work location and unique to that job, and are to be
used to control the operation and to ensure that everyone
involved in the work made aware of the hazards
associated with the work and the safety precautions that need to be taken.
Contractors need to produce method statements as part of their Health and Safety
documentation and as part of the standard required under the CDM Regulations.
Method statements
can be written by any one who is
deemed competent, and familiar with the work
processes, usually the site manager undertakes this role,
