CPCS
A17 Telescopic Forklift Truck
This
training activity is for potential and existing
operators who have received no formal instruction and
those requiring refresher training:
Training and
Testing is now available with the
award of Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS)
Trained Operator card,
The
achievement and the obtaining of a CPCS card are
dependant upon passing the
Construction skills Health and Safety Test.
The updating of the
Red Trained Operator card to a CPCS Competency
Card is dependant upon completion of an NVQ Level 2 in
Plant Operations, Plant Operator within
2 years of attaining the
Trained Operator Card.
The
course content will include:
Training in the safe
operation of the machine on all lifting
and positioning tasks for
which the machine has been designed for; ensuring that
a particular load is safe to lift making full use of
the stabilisers, carrying out routine daily servicing
procedures and general maintenance in accordance with
the manufacturers instructions; Also preparing and
driving the equipment on public highways, and work
sites, loading it onto a transporter in accordance
with the requirements of the Road Traffic Acts; The
purpose and capabilities of their machine and any
relevant safety precautions necessary for its
operation; How the machine is set up for work and the
maintenance requirements involved; The effects of each
load, size, weight, gradients and ground conditions
upon machine stability; The loading, storage and
transit of representative materials; The basic
construction of pallets, and the permitted loading of
scaffold loading towers.
Outcome:
Blue 5 year CPCS
Competence card will be attained if the NVQ has
been achieved prior to any tests
Red 2 Year CPCS Trained Operator card will
be attained if tested without achievement of the
NVQ
